How deep are basement foundations in Minnesota?

Minnesota code requires footings at minimum 42 inches below grade (frost line). Most basements are 8 feet deep from the top of the foundation wall to the basement floor, giving approximately 7.5 feet of ceiling height after floor slab and overhead framing.
