MICRO-FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE
Micro-fiber reinforced concrete uses short (3/4" to 1-1/2") polypropylene, nylon, or polyester fibers added to the concrete mix to reduce plastic shrinkage cracking during the critical early curing period. Micro-fibers distribute throughout the mix at millions of fibers per cubic yard, creating a three-dimensional reinforcement network. Standard addition for residential and commercial flatwork, slabs-on-grade, shotcrete, and precast.

fibers are added at the batch plant and mix uniformly throughout the concrete.
micro-fibers are now standard in most residential and commercial flatwork.
Micro-fiber reinforcement has become standard practice for quality concrete work. We specify polypropylene or nylon micro-fibers in most flatwork mixes to reduce plastic shrinkage cracking — the fine surface cracking that occurs during the first 24 hours as concrete cures. Micro-fibers supplement (don't replace) structural reinforcement like rebar and wire mesh.
Any new concrete pour benefits from micro-fiber reinforcement for reduced shrinkage cracking — it's an inexpensive addition.
Micro-fibers are added to the concrete mix at the batch plant per specified dosage rate.
Fiber-reinforced concrete is placed and finished using standard methods — no special techniques needed.
No. Micro-fibers reduce plastic shrinkage cracking (early age, surface) but do not provide structural reinforcement. Wire mesh or rebar provides structural capacity and controls long-term cracking after the concrete has hardened. Both should be used for best performance.
